Synopsis
The movie follows the story of sailors and aviators from the U.S. Navy who persevered through Pearl Harbor's disaster, Doolittle's Raid's elation and bravery, and eventually the Battle of Midway itself, a turning point in World War II's Pacific Theater.

Production
Roland Emmerich was confirmed to be directing the World War II movie Midway on May 23, 2017. The supporting cast for the film was joined by Woody Harrelson and Mandy Moore in April 2018. Luke Evans was cast in the movie in July 2018 to play Lieutenant Commander Wade McClusky, awarded the Navy Cross for his performance in the Midway battle. Robby Baumgartner has been employed as a filmmaker.
Patrick Wilson, Ed Skrein, Aaron Eckhart, Nick Jonas, Tadanobu Asano, and Dennis Quaid have been added to the cast in August, among others. The cast in September were Darren Criss, Alexander Ludwig and Brandon Sklenar. Filming started in Honolulu, Hawaii on September 5, 2018. It was filmed in Montreal, Canada, as well.
It was announced in November 2018 that the main VFX vendor will be VFX company Scanline VFX, and Pixomondo has signed on to provide additional visual effects.
Release
The film will be released on the weekend of Veteran's Day on November 8, 2019.
Marketing
On June 4, 2019, the 77th anniversary of the Battle of Midway, a teaser poster for the film was released. On June 26, 2019, a set of 13 still photographs depicting scenes from the film was released and the following day (June 27) the first trailer for the film was released. On September 12, 2019, the film's second and final trailer was released, with the theatrical poster of the film on September 25.
