Plot

During their wedding ceremony, Gomez and Morticia Addams were chased away by an angry mob, disapproving of their macabre existence, with the rest of the Addams family. Gomez and Morticia decide to move to New Jersey, a place where "no one would be caught dead." There, Gomez, Morticia and Thing find their "perfect" house in an abandoned and haunted asylum on a hill where they encounter Lurch, a mentally abused patient whom they hire as their butler immediately.

The Addams family has since lived their bleak lives in isolation from the outside world, 13 years later. Gomez is training his son Pugsley for his forthcoming Mazurka, a rite of passage performed by every member of the Addams family. Morticia is struggling to keep her daughter from wanting to experience the world outside the mansion on Wednesday after a balloon and confetti appear on her house.

The Addams Family (2019)

Apart from that, reality TV host Margaux Needler, who is creating a perfect planned community called "Assimilation" so that her show is going to have a good season finale, discovers the household of the Addams family and is adamant to get rid of it when the family refuses to change. Instead Wednesday encounters the abused daughter of Margaux Parker and convinces Morticia to let her go to high school. Pugsley is dealing with his Mazurka's complex rituals and tension, even with Gomez and Uncle Fester's guidance.

At school, Wednesday defends Parker from a school bully named Bethany and befriends her. Later on, the two discuss their frustrations and change their dressing habits – Parker becomes more gothic and Wednesday dresses more colorfully – to the shock of both their mothers. After an argument with Morticia, Wednesday decides to run away in secret and stay with Parker, which Pugsley inadvertently tells Morticia.

Wednesday and Parker discover under Parker's house a secret room revealing that Margaux planted hidden cameras in every house she built in town and spread rumors about the Addams family through social media. Margaux captures both of them and locks them in the attic, but they're let out on Wednesday. Using the Insta-Mob device, Margaux gathers an angry mob to attack the mansion just as Grandmama, her sister Sloom, Cousin Itt, and the whole clan of Addams arrive for the Mazurka of Pugsley.

Pugsley fails miserably in front of the entire family during the Mazurka, but Gomez nevertheless reassures him that he is an Addams. The crowd arrives flinging bricks, causing severe damage to the house and trapping the family. To protect his friends, Pugsley uses his love of explosives and destruction and manages to smash the trebuchet of the mob. With the aid of the Ichabod tree, Wednesday and Parker meet and get everyone out of the rubble safely.

When Margaux once again tries to take charge, her treachery is revealed to the people, and Wednesday says everyone is odd in their own unique way. Glenn, agent of Margaux, brings a letter from the network claiming that her show was cancelled as Fester arrives at a compromise. Civilians of assimilation realize the mistake of their ways.

The citizens of the Addams Family and Assimilation live in peace after working together to restore the house. Margaux becomes partners in the selling of properties to the other members of the Addams Family with Fester. Pugsley is going through his Mazurka as Cousin Itt is taking a family picture.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, however, revealed in 2013 that it would create an animated film based on the comics of the Addams Family, with Pamela Pettler writing the screenplay. As part of a multi-picture co-financing deal with the studio, it was revealed in June 2019 that Bron Creative would co-finance the film with MGM.

It was revealed in October 2017 that Conrad Vernon would direct and produce the film. The film would be produced by Gail Berman and Alex Schwartz, and the script would be revised by Matt Lieberman. Cinesite Studios will animate the script, with Tabitha Shick overseeing MGM's film. It was announced in December 2017 that the role of Gomez Addams in the film was voiced by Oscar Isaac in talks. To order to avoid direct competition with Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, it was previously set for October 18, 2019 before switching to October 11.

With a $150 million international marketing partner initiative, the biggest outside their 007 franchise, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer released the movie.

The Addams Family was released in the United States and Canada along with Gemini Man and Jexi, and its opening weekend was expected to gross $28–30 million from 4,007 theaters. On its first day, the film made $9.7 million, including $1.25 million from previews on Thursday night. It finished second behind holdover Joker to debut at $30.3 million. In October 2018, in the aftermath of the ongoing "Me Too" campaign in India, Khan was accused of sexual assault and abuse by actors Saloni Chopra, Rachel White and journalist Kma Upadhyay. Nana Patekar also quit the company later in the aftermath of Tanushree Dutta's allegations of sexual harassment. Earlier, however, investigative agencies gave him a clean chit and now it is to be looked at whether he will be called back for the film because he was dropped from the movie just because he was accused.

The co-director of Housefull 3, Farhad Samji, has succeeded Sajid Khan as the director.

Ten years after the events of the first film, in an America overrun by zombies, survivors Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita, and Little Rock have become experts in identifying and disposing of various zombies. Visiting the abandoned White House, Columbus wants to suggest the use of the Hope Diamond to Wichita, while Tallahassee refuses the aspirations of Little Rock to meet a boy and start their own family. Tallahassee gets a letter from Wichita and Little Rock the next day, who left because of the Little Rock feeling that Tallahassee still sees her as a child, and the fear that Wichita is too attached to Columbus.

A month later, while visiting a mall, Madison, who has lived in Pinkberry for years alone, surprised Columbus. Tallahassee is irritated by the vapid Madison, but Columbus welcomes her back to the White House where she seduces him easily. Returning and finding Columbus slept with Madison, Wichita reveals that Little Rock left for Graceland with a hippie named Berkeley and warns the group of more powerful and long-lasting "superzombies." Fearing for the safety of Little Rock, the party travels to Graceland in a minivan.

On the street, the group is attempting to control a luxury RV, but Madison is triggering the alarm and zombies are attacking them. Annihilating the group, they discover a superzombie that takes multiple shots to kill, prompting Columbus to call it the "T-800." Madison displays "zombiefiecation" symptoms, causing Columbus to fire her into the trees. Arriving in Graceland, the group finds "the Beast," Little Rock's transformed presidential limousine stolen by Tallahassee, in an Elvis-themed motel owned by Reno, discovering that Little Rock took another car to Babylon, a hippie commune. Reno and Tallahassee have sex because of their passion of Elvis.

The team wakes up to find the Beast crushed by a monster truck driven by Albuquerque and Flagstaff that resembles Tallahassee and Columbus strongly. Superzombies arrive, and Albuquerque explains that because of hordes of superzombies moving east, they have turned back from their journey west. Albuquerque and Flagstaff seem to prevail in the face of the superzombies alone, but both are attacked. Turning to superzombies, with the aid of Reno, they are killed by the band.

Bidding farewell to Reno, Tallahassee can not drive the monster truck of Albuquerque; Columbus takes over the minivan's driving duties. The group finds Madison, driving an ice cream truck alive. Rejoining the party, she describes that when Columbus saved her in the woods, her nut allergy triggered symptoms similar to zombifiecation. Little Rock and Berkeley are banned from learning guns at Babylon and melted down to make medallions for peace. The party is coming to Babylon, relenting to the rule of no-guns, and seeking Little Rock. Tallahassee leaves to realize that she is now grown up and no longer needs his safety, as the hippies celebrate the return of the party with fireworks. Tallahassee finds the fireworks attracted a huge horde of superzombies and returns to alert the party. Left without guns, Tallahassee creates two plans: first, to use fireworks to attract the zombies to an enclosed area and to explode a biodiesel tank. Second, Tallahassee attracted neighborhood leaders armed with barricade guns to corral the zombies off a skyscraper.

The first attempt is ill-fated when the swarm of zombies becomes larger than expected and surrounds the unarmed party. Resigned to their fate, they thank each other for their companionship, but Reno comes into the monster truck to save the party. The truck is tipping over, causing them to move the skyscraper while Tallahassee is stopping the zombies. The survivors create a single path off the edge of the building using shields. Tallahassee leaps off the house, followed by the undead, catching a building crane's hook as the mob falls to their death. Two zombies grab the arm of Tallahassee, but with a misplaced pistol, Little Rock shoots them.

Production

Because of the popularity of Zombieland, a proposed sequel was quickly conceived by authors Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, with many more concepts they wanted to explore. "We'd enjoy it, and hopefully everybody involved wants to do another," Wernick said. "Woody Harrelson came up to us after the final cut of the last scene and gave us a hug and said,' I've never wanted to do a sequel in the previous films I've done until this one.'" Wernick said he planned to have Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin star again with Ruben Fleischer returning as the director and that the writers had "tons of new ideas swimming in their heads." I also wanted to make the sitcom a permanent franchise. "We'd like to do a few sequels," Wernick said. "We'd love to see it on television as well. It'd make a great TV series," they wrote a TV pilot, with a different cast, released on Lovefilm and Amazon Video in April 2013.

Reese and Wernick admitted that they didn't intend on an imminent sequel because they were heavily involved in other writing projects. By November 2009, all were expected to return to the original cast and director, with Fleischer excited about the possibility of doing the 3D sequel. In February 2010, Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg announced their return for the series ' second installment. Fleischer said he was working on the script in 2010, and the writers started looking for another "superstar cameo."

Jesse Eisenberg said with the sequel in July 2011 that he was "not sure what's going on," but that the authors were working on a Zombieland 2 script. Eisenberg expressed concern that a sequel would no longer be "important." Woody Harrelson said he declined to do a sequel as well, saying, "It's one thing to do when it comes out really well and it made a lot of people laugh, but then I don't know. I don't feel like a sequels man."

Reese and Wernick were confirmed to write the sequel in February 2016. Reese and Wernick stated in August 2016 that they were working on Zombieland 2 and meeting with Woody Harrelson to discuss the project while saying that "the whole cast is quite excited."

Plot summary

Jay and Silent Bob were stopped at the Quick Stop by a SWAT team to grow marijuana. We are brought to court where a lawyer (Justin Long) is named to have them sign a document before the trial begins. The attorney then persuades the judge (Craig Robinson) that their business was in reality a temporary pop-up shop advertising an upcoming film. Jay and Bob are winning their freedom, but another court is fast beginning. The prosecutor is switching sides, representing a Saban Films member who opted for Bluntman and Chronic. Because Saban is planning a big-budget remake, Bluntman V Chronic, the lawyer argues that Jay and Silent Bob have legally given their naming rights to Saban, and can therefore never again identify themselves as Jay and Silent Bob.

Outraged, Jay and Bob are visiting Brodie Bruce (Jason Lee), whose store now operates at the Eden Prairie Mall, Brodie's Secret Stash. He tells them about Kevin Smith's rebooting film. The movie is already largely finished, but as the annual Chronic Con conference in Los Angeles, a scene is to be filmed. Jay and Bob have three days to get to Los Angeles to avoid completing the movie and take their identities back. We hear, though, that they are on a No Fly List and are unable to fly to California. Actually, they steal credit card information from a loudmouth businessman and order a ride-share to get to California.

We make it to Chicago, but Jay offers him a joint to enjoy as his first when the driver confides that he has never smoked marijuana. He smokes outside Mooby's, where he is stopped immediately when annoyed by Jay and Bob. Jay glances at a nearby TV after placing an order and notices Justice, his former girlfriend, who is on the news at the moment a weatherperson. Jay and Silent Bob find the right place to live and pay a visit to her. Justice faints in surprise and a masked girl wearing a hockey mask then knocks out the duo. Both wake up bound in the living room of Justice, where Jay is ordered by Justice to leave her heartbroken by never visiting her in prison. She has been married since then because she felt that Jay no longer loved her and gave birth to her child of love, nicknamed "Millennium Faulken." She introduces her daughter to Jay, but encourages her never to disclose her relationship. Outside, Millenium, revealed to be the same masked woman from the start, introduces Jay and Bob to her best friend, "Silent Soapy," who is deaf and communicates in sign language.

Justice leaves with her family for a break, and Millie pressures Jay to take her with him and Bob to Hollywood. They agree and take the ride-share reluctantly. Millie drugs Jay and Bob with very strong marijuana candy, leading to a vision where Jay receives parenting advice from Red Man and Method Man, the stars of Jay's favorite How High movie. They wake up on a Louisiana highway where they meet the other two mates of Millie, Jihad and Shan Yu. They're telling Jay they want to visit Chronic Con because Shan Yu, a Chinese immigrant, is a huge fan of the first Bluntman and Chronic film and it's her wish to attend Chronic Con before she's going back to China. We rob a car from a survivor we seduced and travel to California through a pedophile chat room. Jay, wanting to protect his wife, tells her and her friends about her behaviour. He discovers that after her father tried to kill her for being sexually assaulted, Jihad was taken to America. Millie admits that she never knows her father attributes her behavior to her.

Once again, Jay and Bob are abandoned at a Mooby's, meeting their first ride-share driver, angry at both for ruining his life. Jay and Bob were stealing their car and searching for the bus. They find the van in a vacant area where a rally is being held by the Ku Klux Klan. They abducted the girls and are planning to kill them. Silent Bob steals a klan hood and becomes the new grand dragon to confuse them while Jay rescues the women. They throw at the Klansmen in the car a portable toilet, covering them with feces, and the party is fleeing the scene. They do it in California, where Jay seeks to reconnect with Millie, not exposing their relationship by the wishes of the Justice. They make it where they get in to Chronic Con. When Jay and Bob plan to ruin the film, Jay and Bob break up with the girls, but the girls want to be extras in the movie to fulfill the vision of Shan Yu. With Jay embracing Millie and letting her know he's proud of her, they decide to part ways.

Jay and Bob are trying to get backstage and get past a guard (Diedrich Bader), chasing them after panel by panel. They're hidden in another room where Holden McNeil (Ben Affleck) is approaching them. He conducts a podcast with Alyssa Jones (Joey Lauren Adams), who adapts the Chasing Amy comic from Holden into an original Netflix series. Over the years, the two have developed a platonic friendship, and Holden has donated his sperm to Alyssa and her family in order to have a baby he helps with. He introduces his wife, Amy, to Jay and Bob. Holden tells Jay that he was given a new purpose in life by fatherhood. It inspires Jay to be with Millie and set his mission aside. Holden gives them VIP passes which allow him and Kevin Smith's girls to enter the table. Smith goes backstage to take a break before shooting a scene after watching a film clip. Soapy gets an idea and sneaks backstage Silent Bob and kicks Kevin Smith down, giving him the clothes of Silent Bob Smith to cover himself. They're filming the scene with Millie and Shan Yu on the stage. Yet Shan Yu sees the real Kevin Smith despite their ruse and knocks out Silent Bob. Silent Bob is thrown out of the hall and Shan Yu reveals herself as a Russian spy, determined to destroy American movies. Silent Bob steals from a nearby scrapyard a metal suit and becomes "Iron Bob" and helps fend off Shan Yu and a team of Russian spies dressed as Cock Knocker. Eventually, Jay reveals that he's her dad to Millie. He and Silent Bob are stirring a table riot and taking Shan Yu to justice. The riot shuts down the production of movies forever.

Jay is showing Millie the Quick Stop in New Jersey. Silent Bob brings coffee to them as Jay tells Millie his tales about the adventures of his and Silent Bob, including speaking with Justice. Dante arrives at the Quick Stop and observes the closing of the shutters. In a post-credit scene, Jay tells Millie that they would tease Dante by putting gum on the locks every day for twenty-five years.

Production

According to Clerks II, news has often appeared in the View Askewniverse of other titles to be published, including Clerks III and Mallrats 2. Kevin Smith had announced in 2017 that these films had been scrapped for several reasons, but revealed that he had written a new movie titled Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, featuring Jay and Silent Bob. The script was completed when it was released and it was said that it would be distributed by Miramax. On January 25, 2019, it was announced that Saban Films in partnership with Universal Pictures had obtained distribution rights to the film. It is the first film not to be made by Scott Mosier in the View Askewniverse, and the first film not to be produced by Harvey and Bob Weinstein in the View Askewniverse since Mallrats.

Filming

Initially, filming was scheduled to begin mid-2017, then moved to August 2018, then November of the same year. Following the various delays, filming finally began in New Orleans on February 25, 2019, exactly one year after Smith suffered a massive, near-fatal heart attack.

Smith published a weekly documentary called Road to Reboot during the shooting of the film, showing what is being filmed that week.

Production wrapped up after 21 days of shooting on March 27, 2019, which was the same number of days that Smith took to make his first film, Clerks, 26 years earlier.

Casting

As early as the film's release, Mewes and Smith were attached to the movie.

Comic book writer Stan Lee was originally cast in July 2017 as himself in the movie. But due to his death on November 12, 2018, Lee will instead receive a tribute in the film at the comics shop of Brodie Bruce. The initial third act of the movie was to revolve around Lee, with an extended appearance as a main character from him; but, considering the film's main photography did not begin until three months after Lee's death, the script's entire third act was rewritten.

Originally, because of his friendship with Smith, Ben Affleck was not interested in the film at all. Once Affleck was asked whether he got the call for Reboot in an interview, he replied, "Your guess is as good as mine." Smith wrote in a scene with Affleck's character Holden McNeil after learning about that interview and wrote his 1997 movie Chasing Amy in a mini-sequel. Smith was more excited about not only getting Affleck in the movie, but also getting his"... BOYFRIEND BACK!"

Release

The film was released as part of two showings at Fathom Events on October 15, 2019. The first performance on October 15 received the film's limited edition poster, and the second on October 17 will be a double feature of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

Smith will embark on a North American roadshow tour following the Fathom shows with a film screening, preceded by a Q&A session. The roadshow will start in Asbury Park, New Jersey on October 19 and will end in New Orleans, Louisiana until February 26, 2020. Near the beginning of 2020, the tour will extend worldwide.

Conclusion

Jay and Silent Bob return to Hollywood to avoid the production of a remake of the movie 'Bluntman and Chronic.'
